It’s a Celebration

It's a Celebration has several meaningful connections. Firstly, the idea stems from an artist who inspired me to paint during my childhood, Ernie Barnes, particularly his painting "Sugar Shack." This image has lingered in my mind for many years. Ernie Barnes, along with the 1970s TV show "Good Times," ignited my journey to become an artist. Even during challenging times, one can find solace in the energy of his work.

Secondly, my motivation to proceed with this project stems from the music of an artist named "Logic," whose songs played continuously as I worked on the painting. His album, possibly his last, released in 2020 titled "No Pressure," served as the soundtrack to my creative process.

The concept revolves around figures resembling plants, akin to my previous artworks, dancing within pots of soil. The overall aesthetic of the painting will evoke an aged, rustic appearance, resembling dirt. The dancers draw inspiration from my previous works featuring tree dancers, set in the darkness and ambiance of the Sugar Shack concept.
