It's a Celebration has a few different connections. First, the idea is coming from an artist that inspired me to paint when i was a child. His name was Ernie Barnes. His painting "Sugar Shack". This painting has been a painting in my head for many years. This artist along with the old 70s TV show called, "Good Times" was the reason I started my journey to be an artist. Even in hard times, one can escape the energy of that work. The next part would be my motivation. The inspiration to move forward with this work comes from an artist whose music I used in continuous rotation as I created the work. The artist goes by the name "Logic". The album (maybe his last) in 2020 called "No Pressure". It's the album I used while painting. I was going for people who are plants like my many other paintings, dancing in a pot of soil. The painting over all will have an old rustic, dirt look about it. The dancers come from my tree dancers from old, but in the darkness and idea of Sugar Shack.
