United States of America Divided

What is the state of our country? People from less developed countries look overseas and wonder about the hopes and dreams that come from moving to the United States. But when you take a closer look, you find that it is no different from any other country, filled with its own problems, struggles, violence, and death.

My work, entitled "The United 'State' of Americans Divided," will be a beautiful anthem of 50 individual pieces that will hang like vertical blinds against a wall, moving with the slightest touch. Standing approximately 6 feet tall and 9 feet wide, the painting will depict a huge city skyline, with each piece representing a state. As you look closely at the skyline, you will notice information about events from each state that have taken place. These stories will explain what makes up the United States and what keeps Americans divided.
